When we decided to move to Bluffton, SC and build a house it was by far the riskiest financial decision of our life.    We did not know anyone in SC so finding a trustworthy contractor who did quality work was our first priority.  We looked at 5 contractors and could not have been happier with our choice of Jacoby and Sons.

When we first met the Jacoby family we were impressed with the workmanship of their homes and the reputation they had as a builder in the low country.  We fell in love with the open design of the Driftwood Model but it was more than we wanted to spend.   Jacoby worked with us to make modifications to give us all the features that were important to us and were creative/flexible so that we stayed within our budget.

Jacoby and Sons has a "secret weapon" that no other contractor can compete with and that is Nicki Jacoby.   She was with us from the start and helped us design every detail of the home.   She is a consummate professional and has impeccable taste.   At every step she made sure that we made good decisions that fit the style of a "Low Country Home".

Under the direction of the construction manager Buzzy the house was completed in 7 months as promised and we could not have been more pleased with the results.   This is our Happy Place!!

I have waited 18 months after the home was completed to write this review.   I liked the home so much and wanted to make sure the home was mechanically sound.   Over the first year we had 2 minor issues that were important and were handled immediately.  At the end of the first year we gave Jacoby our punch list of 5-6 items.   All but one were minor and the crews exceeded our expectations with the repairs.   The painters spent 3 days here repainting walls that needed minor touch ups and spackling all areas that cracked from the natural settling of home.  They were painting items that were not even on my list.   Impressive!!

With all the scary stories you hear about contractors we feel very lucky to have found Jacoby and Sons.  Bryan Jacoby kept to his word on all that was promised.   It's rare to find a good contractor who stands by their word and always does "the right thing".

Palmetto Dunes

We want to thank the entire Jacoby and Sons team for designing and building our amazing new house in Palmetto Dunes.  Even though we have been living here for over three months, it still feels like we are living in a wonderful vacation home.  Which, I guess it is, except we never leave, we are home.

From Bryan’s excellent guidance through the design and contract phase, to Sue’s expert help in picking out the wonderful finishes for our house and, finally, to Bubba’s great project management skills to get the house built on time and on budget during a Pandemic; it was an overall great job done by a great team.  And anytime there was an issue, everyone worked through it to get it fixed. 

Bryan gave us excellent advice through the design phase, always considering our needs but at the same time finding ways to keep the costs within our budget.  Brandon was also instrumental in helping to manage the overall cost to meet our bottom line.  And Bubba really does build a house like he is going to live in it.  Bubba was great as we moved through the build, always recommending the direction, through his expert knowledge and experience.  And in the final product, he really took care of many items that would have been punch list items, before we even saw them. 

In addition, both Bryan and Bubba were able to negotiate their way through the Palmetto Dunes requirements.  I met a Palmetto Dunes ARB member, who was part of our final inspection team, and he told me that our house is beautiful and that Jacoby and Sons builds a great house.

Indigo Run, Golf Club

As a former IBM executive, back when IBM stood for “I’ve Been Moved”, we have looked forward to a number of new homes.  However, we have never been as excited as we now are with our new Jacoby home on Hilton Head Island.

We walked into the Jacoby Driftwood model and instantly fell in love with the open design and quality features of the home.  Within an hour of leaving the model, we received a call from Tom Jacoby; the rest is history!

Tom was an invaluable assist finding a lot in the Indigo Run community, where we wanted to live.  The only problem was the lot didn’t fit the on-grade design of the Driftwood home.  Tom’s solution was to design and build a reverse floor plan version of the Driftwood, with the majority of the living on the upper floor to create and take advantage of a fantastic view.

Tom, Bryan and Nicki listened to our ideas and needs, and working with a great architect, as a team, we came up with a one-of-a-kind design, based on the Driftwood’s open floor plan.  The Jacoby team worked with us throughout the design phase, providing invaluable guidance, advice and feedback on all the selections required for the home.  Nicki is the best!  The build process, which most people dread, could not have gone any better and was actually very enjoyable.  There were no surprises and Bubba kept us involved and informed.  Not only is Bubba a real professional, most importantly, he looks at the home he is building through our eyes, always making decisions that benefit and reflect our wants and needs.  That is a winning approach and we could not be more pleased with our decision to build with and trust our home to the Jacoby “family.”
